One sunny afternoon in a quiet farm town, Farmer Jenkins discovered that his prized pig, Petunia, had mysteriously lost a leg. Instead of being upset, he decided to have some fun and fitted her with an ornate wooden leg he carved himself, complete with tiny horseshoes. The townsfolk were in stitches as Petunia strutted around the farm, flaunting her new peg leg like a true pirate, snorting proudly as if to say, “I may be one leg down, but I waddle like a champion!”
The hilarity didn’t stop at Petunia’s outfit; it was her newfound swagger that had everyone laughing. After all, how often do you see a pig with a wooden leg prancing confidently alongside the other animals, totally oblivious to the absurdity of it all? The combination of a pig acting like a swaggering sea captain and the farmer’s ridiculous attempt at a rustic prosthetic turned the farm into the town’s main attraction, proving that sometimes, a little creativity—and a lot of imagination—can make even a one-legged pig the life of the party!

The pig that has a wooden leg

D
Norm seemed like the kinda guy you could just sit around with for hours talking shit about nothing and have the best time of your life.
S
Honestly seems like it’d be a pretty one sided conversation these days.
L
Norm would’ve loved this joke.
E
Why?
W
He was a renowned jokester
E
Was? What happened?
W
Norm died in 2021
E
I didn’t even know he was sick. I’ll see myself out now
B
I hope someone called 9/11
S
They did, but were 20 years too early.
D
Oh so hes not funny anymore?
T
Well, not *as* funny.
U
Because he’s dead!
L
Norm loved him some dark humor: [https://trivia.cracked.com/article\_42861\_norm-macdonalds-darkest-bits.html](https://trivia.cracked.com/article_42861_norm-macdonalds-darkest-bits.html)
E
Loved? What do you mean?
F
Loved, meaning he had an appreciation for it. Dark humor was something he kept coming back to. He’d circle it, take the long way around, add details that didn’t seem necessary at the time, and sometimes pause on them longer than felt comfortable. You’d start thinking the point had been missed, or that there wasn’t one at all, or that maybe this was just going to keep going until someone stopped him. Then he’d keep going anyway, you know? That kind of humor tends to stick with a person over the years. It becomes the thing they’re known for. Not because it was explained particularly well, or even because it made sense every time, but because it showed up again and again whether anyone asked for it or not. So when people say he loved dark humor, that’s all they mean, you know? It was a preference. A habit. A recurring theme. Anyway, he’s dead now.
J
Because he’s dead. The man’s dead. And he can’t have a conversation. So hence the ,”One sided” remark.
E
I didn’t even know he was sick
S
reminds me of that tragedy..
A
What tragedy was that?
K
He’s feeling much better now.
C
(Norm voice) … Cause I’m dead, ya know.
L
So I says to him, I says: Cause I’m dead ya know.
E
Really? I didn’t even know he was sick
F
I’ve got nothing better to say anyhow
P
because you are farmer
T
Bum ba-da bum bum bum bum
C
Well I think unfortunately Norm would be relying on you to carry the conversation
S
He hasn’t had anything new to say for a couple years now.
R
Is he sick or something?
B
He’s something alright
B
That got me rolling. You are a funny person.
H
Bravo, Norm would love that shit ….. One sided 😂🤣
D
I feel like living in the same house with Norm would drive you absolutely and completely insane in mere weeks.
R
Conan here is already like “Oh god here we go” at the start of the joke.
R
Absolutely a “you son of a bitch, this better pay off”
G
It’s Norm. Part of the schtick is that is never pays off and you’re out another 8 minutes of your life.
R
As Andy Richter put it, all of Norm’s jokes were like taking a ten-mile walk to look at a dog turd.
D
I feel like the journey getting there was more important than the punch line, most of the time. He had such a goofy way of telling a story. lol
R
You know, that’s stage presence for sure, but every less performative piece of media he’s been on, he really strikes me as a much more introspective and philosophic person. I think conversations with him would be incredible if you could keep up, but all reports are he was a well read intelligent guy.
G
The smartest guy in the room pretending to be the dumbest.
S
it’d only take hours bc of how many filler words he uses and how many times he repeats himself 😭
L
He was a stand in guest for years for Conan where other celebs canceled on short notice. His job was to burn time where the show had nothing else prepped. He did extremely well considering the circumstances. Everyone thinks norm just loved these drawn out stories, but they had a specific purpose.
S
Look at how hes smiling, he was filling time AND loved drawn out jokes
W
They did indeed have a “youthful porpoise”.
S
These were mostly old jokes that he didn’t write but made his own. The perfect example is the infamous moth joke. Norm said that it was a joke that Colin Quinn told him at a party. Colin’s version was just the setup and punchline. A quick 15-30 second joke. Norm stretched it to 7 minutes and turned it into a Russian tragedy.
R
A Russian tragedy told specifically because he was asked to stay on for an additional segment to fill time for Conan, without having any material prepped. The reason why the moth joke kills is precisely because it’s the opposite of the kind of joke you’re supposed to tell on television, which lives and breathes on Shakespeare’s adage that brevity is the soul of wit. It’s a bit of a testament to how good Conan is at comedy that a) he immediately got what Norm was doing with the moth joke (you can see him trying not to burst into laughter at the sheer audacity of what Norm is doing), and then adds to it with laser-guided interruptions that break Norm’s delivery right at the point it might have spilled over into tedium (“How long was this taxi ride anyway?!”). The moth joke is insanely funny, but it works so much better because Conan knew instantly that he had to play straight man to Norm. I don’t think it would have worked with any other late night comic; maybe Colbert.
C
You’d spend 7 hours with him and hear 4 amazing jokes
V
Worth it
S
Nobody better than Norm exemplifies the difference between a person who says funny things and a person who says things funny.
