They can. They sleep in trees.

The first time I saw a tree full of turkeys at dawn, I was completely flabbergasted.

I was quoting a famous episode of WKRP. Also- wild turkeys can fly short distances. Same with Peacocks. Turkeys raised for Thanksgiving dinner cannot. And therefore, dropping a few dozen out of a helicopter over a local mall parking lot would be a really bad idea.

Wild ones can, but only for short bursts and definitely NOT 50 MPH.

I’ve had one flying across(rather over) the road as I was driving. Quite the magical and wild sight.

They can, if they’re wild turkeys.

Is that the speed attained when dropped from a helicopter at 2000 feet?

F
farmallnoobies • 2 points
No, that’s the speed at which a turkey totaled my friend’s vehicle.

> I didn’t know geese could fly that fast. [Top speed is about 70 mph (110 kmph)](https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/nonpwdpubs/young_naturalist/animals/animal_speeds/) and [migratory speed 50-60 mph (80-100 kmph)](https://www.divebombindustries.com/blogs/news/how-fast-can-geese-fly-facts-about-their-speed-and-endurance). Peregrine falcon [top speed 242 mph \(390 kmph\).](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_by_flight_speed)

Based on info from a speed trap? Goose not reading posted limits?

T

He’s Canadian, he thought it was in kilometers per hour.

What do you think?
