Yes and no. It seems crazy because of the situation that happened to end the game. The Seahawks were down on the 1 yard line and had enough time for I think 2-3 plays. They needed to score to win. At the time they had the best running back in the league, Marshawn Lynch on their team. It was first down, Seahawks chose to do a shotgun pass, ball was intercepted. Seahawks lost due to that play. It’s a heavily criticized play because a lot of people, myself included, say you run Marshawn there 10/10 times. What has been talked about in hindsight is a few things, Marshawn was known to not be a great red zone player, the OC likely called the correct play because again 10/10 people would say to run the ball there and he needed to manage the clock with no timeouts, Bill Belichick forced Seattle use all their timeouts, while retaining the threat to make a few plays if the Seahawks scored by saving his own. All that combined with the Patriot’s defense just reading that play like a book and it resulted in what is widely talked about for that game. If you take that specific play away, it was a slugfest and really enjoyable game where it could go either way the entire time.

Also note that they ran that exact goal line jamming playcall in practice, specifically with Butler and Browner. Plus, they tried running with Marshawn on 1st down, only for one of the Pats’ linemen (or LBs, cant recall which) to make a game-saving tackle at the 1. Thus, with time counting down, they made what should’ve been a solid playcall (best case: TD; assumed worst case: incomplete pass and time stopped). Was just some perfect defense, and I’m beyond happy they were able to get that monkey off their backs last night

Which Bills vs Chiefs game are you referring to, because while their matchups have all been good games, I wouldn’t call any of them games where its clearly the two best teams in the league like this years NFC championship was. Edit: Looking at it, I can’t see how you can be referring to any other year than 2023, and I think saying the AFC championship that year was the “real Super Bowl” is completely off base. The Niners had a better record than the Bills and they took the Chiefs to OT. The Niners were literally closer to beating the Chiefs than the Bills were lmao

Patriots got absolutely exposed by the Seahawks. A lot of people were saying they had an easy schedule and didnt really belong and I didnt agree with them but after watching that performance…ouch.

Patriots OL from left to right: Rookie, rookie, journeyman, Onwenu (legit long-time starter), journeyman Their OL was fine against the weak regular season schedule, but absolutely could not handle the much tougher playoff opponents, and Maye got KILLED for it. They have a lot of work to do in that unit this offseason. On second look it’s actually not fully fair to call the center a journeyman as he’s only been on one team prior. But he’s definitely not a household name, maybe “cast-off” would be more fair.

Play calling is a huge part of the blame here. After Maye got destroyed they should have focused on screens, options, and play action. Instead they had him drop back and wait until the defense was in his lap.

21st game of the season after getting bruised by 2 of the top 5 D lines in the playoffs already. The O Line was just smoked, and Will has been struggling since injury. Tough to watch, but I think it’s easy to forget sometimes how tough this is when you’re 23,24 years old playing against grown men. We’ve been playing with house money since Houston, all this is is just great experience for a young team.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about American football. 23-24 is very grown. In many disciplines it’s the peak of form. Sure, they lack experience, but I’m assuming they were training for exactly this moment almost their entire lives, so it’s not like they could’ve been unprepared, right?
