These are the same sorts of people who change lanes without looking or signaling. I’ve seen morons drop the bar on a smith matching latch like it’s impossible to fall off the latch.

The impact on the bar can bounce the latch off in some cases. Point is never assume. If you assume, you are gambling with your wellbeing and life potentially.

I always thought that was an odd saying. When you make a wrong assumption, aren’t you really just making an ass out of yourself?

This is by far my favorite version of this saying. He’s so good in that movie.

As was Gina Davis! They, and the movie itself, both deserved more credit and laudation than they received.

It makes sense i the context of assuming someone said, did or implied something. “I assumed you took care of issue xyz.” Also when you just assume something, then your boss takes it for a fact and makes decisions upon your assumption

Your assumption may have consequences for other people. Assuming a lane is clear > collides with another vehicle > outside perspective, you both look like an ass.

Never fails to amaze me how much people can tell about a person from a 6 second clip.

How does relying on a built-in safety mechanism on exercise equipment in a gym, equate to blatantly careless driving in a car on a public street? I’m going to need you to show your work here.

Little bit harsh to jump straight to a generalization of all the people who can have an accident like this. He could also have “thought he felt it” or any number of other things. And even if he did not “check” or “confirm”, it’s very natural for a human brain to constantly try to simply behaviour by looking for constants and trying to factor them out to free up resources. He’s not killing others in traffic here, it’s just a guy that got himself into a bad accident.

Reminds me of that wall-climbing guy who forgot to clip in and let go expecting the belay rope to catch him.

Or the sky diver who forgot to put his parachute on.

Or the hang glide instructor who forgot to hook her client to the hang glider.
