A new fear has been activated!

A new fear has been revealed!

V
Always confirm the latch is on before letting go.
F
These are the same sorts of people who change lanes without looking or signaling. I’ve seen morons drop the bar on a smith matching latch like it’s impossible to fall off the latch.
V
The impact on the bar can bounce the latch off in some cases. Point is never assume. If you assume, you are gambling with your wellbeing and life potentially.
L
Never assume. It makes an ASS out of U and ME
B
I always thought that was an odd saying. When you make a wrong assumption, aren’t you really just making an ass out of yourself?
G
“You know what happens when you make an assumption? It makes an “ass” out of “u” and “mption.” — Samuel L. Jackson in *The Long Kiss Goodnight*
K
This is by far my favorite version of this saying. He’s so good in that movie.
E
As was Gina Davis! They, and the movie itself, both deserved more credit and laudation than they received.
K
Oh no doubt! She nailed it! Chefs do that.
L
It makes sense i the context of assuming someone said, did or implied something. “I assumed you took care of issue xyz.” Also when you just assume something, then your boss takes it for a fact and makes decisions upon your assumption
B
Fair enough.
M
No in that case you make an ass out of U, and mption.
B
Your assumption may have consequences for other people. Assuming a lane is clear > collides with another vehicle > outside perspective, you both look like an ass.
B
You know what happens when you assume, don’t you? That’s right — sometimes you’re incorrect.
K
Assuming is the mother of all fuck ups.. My ex-company senior dev said that once to me and it stuck hard
N
“You know what they say, when you assume you make an ass out of yourself” Michael Clarke Duncan
L
Also a great saying
S
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.
S
Drive’s with their lights off in the dark and assume everyone can see them.
J
Had a kid in high school who wouldn’t look behind him when backing the car out in case someone jumped in front of his car. This came out when he backed into a teachers car after school one day.
D
Never fails to amaze me how much people can tell about a person from a 6 second clip.
T
How does relying on a built-in safety mechanism on exercise equipment in a gym, equate to blatantly careless driving in a car on a public street? I’m going to need you to show your work here.
B
Little bit harsh to jump straight to a generalization of all the people who can have an accident like this. He could also have “thought he felt it” or any number of other things. And even if he did not “check” or “confirm”, it’s very natural for a human brain to constantly try to simply behaviour by looking for constants and trying to factor them out to free up resources. He’s not killing others in traffic here, it’s just a guy that got himself into a bad accident.
F
Reminds me of that wall-climbing guy who forgot to clip in and let go expecting the belay rope to catch him.
T
Or the sky diver who forgot to put his parachute on.
O
Or the hang glide instructor who forgot to hook her client to the hang glider.

D
What’s nice though is that this is one of those mistakes you’ll only make once.
I
Total fuckwit. He just let go…
T
This…and use the safety spots / spotter arms / bar catches that are a part of Smith machines.
M
He will from now on.
A
Easier said than done if you’re exhausted at the end of your last set… absolutely no reason to not use a regular bench press (with pegs to rack the weight) for this movement.
M
There are safety stops for this machine as well if anyone would ever bother to use them.
C
Never let go of the bar before getting your head out. Especially during a squat or sth
L
Lol. I guess stating the very obvious gets all the votes.
K
I seem a guy die like this before.
C
Also put the safety latches on that prevent the bar from going beyond a certain distance down.
D
The guillotine press !
G
“The Gallagher”
R
Thanks, I laughed, and now I’m going to hell.
S
Spotter was on cooldown clearly
I
IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES IT GOES YUH
T
Jesus that’s brutal
[
Guy dropped that shit like he was joking around. More like fear of overconfidence.
W
That’s honestly a good fear to have.
P
The greatest fear is not that we’re inadequate yadda yadda. Good quote
L
I’ve literally removed half of the structural integrity of my collarbone because of it. No, it’s absolutely not
_
Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
N
I heard that in his voice!
