I was there, my thought processes was: “Fuck yeah!” *I parked in the other lot? Yes, yes I did.* “Woooooooo!” *That tire could have really hurt someone…* *10 minutes pass, no sirens.* “That was awesome!”

“Sorry ol’ dad couldn’t afford tickets for your birthday this year, Billy. But at least that nice man let us past the gates and we can hear the sounds of the monster trucks from the parking lot.”

Don’t worry their insurance carrier will charge them more than twice the value of the car in increased premiums for every event for the next couple years

Whew, I was worried about the insurance CEO not having enough money next year for his usual 4 yachts yearly replacement that need to be replaced because the multi-spray shower heads have some lime on them

This comment is ignorant and makes no sense. Why would their insurance carrier charge them anything when they’re not at fault? This would very obviously be covered by the responsible party. And why would anyone pay more than their car is worth in insurance premiums? That would be pointless and has never happened ever. And every event for the next couple of years? If you’re making multiple at-fault claims every few years, you deserve to be dropped.

The… the event’s insurance, not the car’s, probably.

I’ve more than paid the value of my car in premiums over the 16 years I’ve had it. That’s with no accidents or infractions. It’s definitely not uncommon, let alone “has never happened.” Some people drive cheap cars. Some people maintain those cars so they continue to drive. Almost everyone will keep insurance on said car because.. legal mandates and, surprise, insurance. To your other point, a lot of insurance will raise rates on premiums even while involved in no fault accidents. They justify it as “an incident increasing risk.”

First of all, owning one car for 16 years is not usual. If that’s what it takes to exceed the value of the car, that’s an extreme scenario. Second of all, you’re confusing your entire insurance payments, which include liability, for just the coverage on your vehicle. You absolutely did not pay more for the vehicle specific coverage than the value of the car. If you did, you’re an idiot. My car is worth about $15k and the comprehensive coverage is like $200 for a year. It’s the liability, which covers other people’s cars, medical bills, and lawsuits, that’s expensive. That’s protection against hundreds of thousands of dollars in liability.

Aren’t those tires expensive as fuck?

The Kia was worth less than the air in the tire before it was hit.

I have a rule with cars – never put more into it then the vehicle is worth. If the owner of that Kia follows the same rule they can’t fill the gas tank more than 1/2.

Darn shame, looks like it was well kept, obviously functional. This is seriously bad luck for that individual. IF, big if, they pay anything it likely won’t cover the cost of replacement transportation.

First car: oh that doesn’t look that bad. Second car: holy shit…….
