Only one can exist.

Last Saturday, my roommate and I decided to host a friendly competition: who could make the best breakfast sandwich. I whipped up a classic egg and cheese with a touch of Sriracha, while he concocted a towering behemoth loaded with every breakfast item imaginable—bacon, avocado, and even a sprinkle of maple syrup for flair. We invited friends over for the big reveal, and each sandwich was enthusiastically presented.
The moment of truth arrived when we asked our friends to vote for the best. Instead of picking a winner, they turned it into a battle royale, demolishing both sandwiches and declaring there could be only one victor—hunger! The real champion became the friend who, thinking they were being clever, blended the leftovers into a “breakfast smoothie.” Now, there’s a beautiful mess!

So, I’m not deep into Highlander lore, but I’ve always wondered… Why? Why kill each other? If you’ve got a bunch of immortals running around, why not ally together and rule the world or something?

S
ShortStoryIntros • 10 points
Some do Ally together.. but like anywhere, there are power hungry immortals… the more headcounts the stronger they become. It then becomes a matter of survival. If one immortal gets too strong, everyone is at risk of getting their head chopped off. The only safe place is on holy ground. The oldest immortal “Methos” actually refused to participate in “The Game”.

Methos was always my favorite. The series was kinda cheesy at times but lots of fun; I’ve got so much nostalgia for 90s fantasy TV.

Same, it was really cool to see his story get revealed. From being an ordinary guy, to hiding himself among The Watchers, to being one of the 4 horsemen. There was a lot to his character

Its a power hunger type thing. Its been DECADES since, so pardon me if I get it wrong… Each immortal carries within them unique power, ontop of valuable experiences, that when one kills another, the dead’s essence immediately transfers itself to the killer, bestowing the victor more combat experience, memories, and essentially more strength, which again, equates to raw power. This was semi-explained thru the show more than the movies. And the shows (minus Raven) was incredible. 5 stars. Also, Immortals senses other Immortals, EVEN WHEN if one of the Immortals hasn’t been immortalized yet. So when it comes to this power hunger, it’s dog eat dog, or… if the person isn’t a total jackwad, respects the other and keeps it pushing, which happens pretty often in the shows lol.

Long story short, they power up.

Significantly. And, I know that the “Sanctified Land” rule is pretty effing big in the Highland-verse, did they ever explain why though? That i can never remember.

S
ShortStoryIntros • 2 points
It was Ancient Tradition and “Law”.. probably someone broke it once before.. I can’t remember, but believe there may have been a moment of divine intervention… preventing one from attacking another on holy land.. and punishing that attacker.. but my memory is foggy “In Highlander III: The Sorcerer, when Kane fights Connor on Holy Ground (a Buddhist temple), their fight is stopped by unnatural, divine intervention—a surge of energy that breaks Connor’s sword and fills the room with wind and lightning.”

Highlander 2 was so bad , I didn’t bother watching 3.

I just remembered… in the tail end of the show, there was indeed a group of Immortals, I think they called themselves the 4 Horseman of Apocalypse, which were 4 of the oldest known Immortals, including “The First”, and they had that idea like u said. But im not gonna spoil it incase u wanna see it for yourself.
