Yes, when it’s -25F outside you wait for your car to defrost using the heaters. /s **Or** if you aren’t a dunce you scrape the ice off with an ice scraper. You can even do this while your front vents are spitting heat. You’ll be off in a few minutes – which is important because it’s fucking cold out -instead of waiting forever for the ice to melt from your heaters. Then eventually you own a garage and never have to deal with that again.

You’re not Canadian are you? Scrape and drive. Letting your engine heat up more than a minute or 2 is just wasting tonnes of gas idoling over multiple frosty months. So start your car, scrape it, get in and drive. It’s the best way to get your car up to temperature anyways and not waste time or gas.

How was I being dense? I was simply pointing how it’s wonderful that EVs can defrost in the parking lot right before it’s time to drive them.

I mean, it’s doing it automatically while I’m drinking my morning coffee inside, so I’m not waiting around for anything. And it’s not “barely defrosted”, you can literally just get in and turn the windshield wipers on and the slush just gets pushed off. Also, as annoying a trend as glass roofs are in some ways, as soon as the cabin heats up, the snow does slide right off, so that’s nice.

Okay so clearly you either run your car for half an hour and are the most wasteful and lazy person around or you simply don’t live in a region that gets anything close to what winter looks like for some of us. The snow slides off no matter what, that’s why it’s weird that you go so out of your way to avoid it.
