Web-based instructional videos

**What Happened:** Last week, I decided it was time to invest in a little self-improvement and attempt some online tutorials. My goal? To learn how to make homemade pasta. I grabbed my flour, eggs, and a newfound sense of confidence, only to realize halfway through that the video tutorial’s host was using an industrial-sized mixer while I was wielding a whisk like it was a criminal weapon. By the time I was done mixing, my kitchen looked like the aftermath of a flour explosion, and I could barely tell if I was making dough or preparing for a science experiment gone wrong.

**Why It’s Funny:** In the end, I didn’t produce the delicate strands of pasta I envisioned but more of a gooey, shapeless mass that, I’m pretty sure, could have passed for an art installation titled “Pasta: A Tragic Love Story.” As I stared at my creation, I couldn’t help but laugh—between the mess, the fail, and the fact that I was now standing in a cloud of flour looking like a baking ghost. It turns out, not all online tutorials come with a warning label for disaster!

That’s why you have to watch the videos in order. Start with “how to make a bandsaw.”

Big Bandsaw hates this one trick

Your avatar just gave me a Nam flashback to 2008. Man I miss the 00s.

Tom was a smart dude. Took all his social media money and fucked right off. Bet he doesn’t have to make his own bandsaws now!

You kid, but before the industrial revolution, it was normal for an artisan to make their own tools.

In before Matthias Wandel gets a load of new views on his like 15 year old bandsaw creation playlist!!

I was just thinking of posting his video. If I remember right, he made one version that used minimal powered tools.

I miss that Matthias. Recent years are not that…

He’s moved a few times and also hurt himself. For a time he physically could not pick up anything. He’s recovering and just starting to get back into larger wood working projects.

If you want to make a cherry pie from scratch you must first invent the universe

I just learned about the meme last night of the how to draw an owl. Step 1) Draw two circles. Step 2) Finishing the f\*\*king owl. [https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/eccj2/how\_to\_draw\_an\_owl/](https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/eccj2/how_to_draw_an_owl/)

There’s an entire subreddit devoted to that meme as well. I believe it’s r/restofthefuckingowl

This video isn’t sponsored but I was sent this pile of tens of thousands of dollars in equipment to try out.

L
LatkaXtreme • 10 points
That happens way too often. Start watching a channel for their handy tips and tricks with tons of creativity, then they hit big and get 1000+ dollars worth of equipment and all that magic is lost once they start cnc machining and 3d printing.

I hate watching a YouTube channel that’s all about “small shops” and then they upgrade to a shop bigger than my house when they get popular.

>No sponsors! *three minute slow-mo montage of a Tormach CNC cutting parts*

But I’m an honest YouTube, I’ll tell the good things and the bad things. The good things: everything. The bad things: it doesn’t have a cup holder

First you must create the universe. Or the OG [Primitive Technology](https://www.youtube.com/@primitivetechnology9550) Guy is slowly working himself into the iron age.

The only [first watch](https://www.youtube.com/@primitivetechnology9550) you really need.

Tho if I remember right he do say that the work isn’t worth the effort that much compared to just buying one.

Unfortunately a bandsaw requires a wooden box in order to make it

K
Kevadu • 1 points
How did anyone make the first bandsaw then?!

M
MinecraftHobo135 • 1 points
They found the first wooden box

K
Kevadu • 1 points
Oh, thankfully wooden boxes have a chance of just spawning.

There’s a link to that one in the description of the previous video on building a forge.

reminds me of the guy who 100% made his own burger, even built his own gun to slaughter the cow if i recall correctly

F

I have seen where someone made a functional bandsaw out of wood. Only needed metal fasteners, motor, and blade.
