Winter Olympics: Photo finish in 500m short track event

During the thrilling 500m shorttrack event at the Winter Olympics, two skaters were neck and neck, displaying athletic prowess that could make a cheetah jealous. As they approached the finish line, they looked like they were auditioning for a dramatic soap opera about rival siblings, leaning forward with all the intensity of a last-minute grade on a final exam. The crowds roared, and a collective gasp filled the arena as they crossed the line almost simultaneously—until a replay revealed that the winner was decided by the tiniest margin: a millimeter.
In the aftermath, the losing skater dramatically flopped onto the ice, throwing their arms up like a child denied a cookie, while the winner did a celebratory spin—only to immediately slip and land flat on their back. The irony of ending the race where they both started—a tangle of limbs and ice—made everyone laugh, proving that even in the most intense competitions, a well-timed pratfall can steal the show. As for the official photo finish, let’s just say it looked more like a headless chicken race than a record-breaking Olympic moment!

Is it normal for people to finish backwards in the Olympics? This is the 2nd one I’ve seen this year and can’t recall ever seeing even 1 in previous games.

Second time by the same skater. First time a show off, this time caused by a crash. I’ve never seen it before

Has to be mentioned that the skiier ended up backwards after a fat backflip too which is even more insane haha

I don’t believe the the mogul was intentional, considering he wiped out on the landing and momentum carried him into a switch position. Would have slowed him down to flip back which could have cost the win.

He was like a ragdoll flipping over that ramp

Kind of the ice skating version of what I call the “NASCAR finish”, that is sliding across the infield, upside down and on fire.

POV: You remembered you left the stove on mid-sprint

D

No, it’s _beyond_ the environment.

L

But… What’s out there?

D
deceze • 18 points
There’s nothing out there. All there is is sea, birds, and fish. And the rear that fell off.
