A few months ago, my wife and I discovered two holes in our car’s rubber seal, and yesterday a third hole appeared; it wasn’t caused by the kids or a mouse, but rather by my wife’s handbag hook snagging the rubber while she was securing our daughter in her seat—caught in the act!

**What Happened:** My wife and I first noticed two holes in our car’s rubber seal a few months ago. At first, we thought our kids were up to their usual shenanigans—maybe using the car as a makeshift art project or having a secret snack party. But when a third hole mysteriously appeared yesterday, we were left scratching our heads. After a thorough investigation, complete with flashlights and a magnifying glass, we discovered the true culprit: my wife’s handbag hook! It was snagging on the rubber every time she strapped our daughter into her seat, leaving behind a trail of damage.

**Why It’s Funny:** Imagine my wife, the sweet, unsuspecting handbag enthusiast, turning into a car seal’s worst nightmare! Who would’ve thought her stylish accessory was secretly plotting against our vehicle? It’s like a scene out of a spy movie—“The Handbag Hook Strikes Back!” Now, every time I see those holes, I can’t help but picture her in an action pose, saving the day while simultaneously ruining our car. At least we’ve got a great story, and if anyone asks, we can always say it was a “handbag heist!”

Is the solution to rotate the clasp so it opens inward?

Yup that’s what she’s just done 👍 We both burst out laughing when we saw the little piece of rubber stuck in the latch.

Accidental “time-and-motion study” pays off. Well done.

Your wife should put her bag in the car first.

Im not sure if Id call this funny, seeing that until you fix that seal, you’re in for a whole lot of water ingress into your door/car…

Definitely going to be fixing it 😊 and we’re lucky it’s summer here.

Slap some electrical tape on it and see how long it works for, source: lazy engineer

My brother was wondering why the tint on his wife’s car was all nicked up on one particular spot. Turns out she flings the seatbelt off every time, and it hits the window. Surprised she never broke it.

That is some cheap rubber right there

Tbh it really is more of a foam than a rubber. Great for insulating noise, not so great for durability

My old “obsolete” truck that has no smart features its a thick rubber piece.

Haha I feel that, I had an old F-150 that was solid as hell everywhere you looked. At the same time, my new truck is faster, quieter, and more comfortable, so as long as I’m okay fixing the occasional wear item, I’m good
