The most surprising sight you might encounter drifting in the ocean.

The final thing one would anticipate seeing adrift on the sea.

I wish my roof was as nice

Yeah, I have a feeling it would be easier to find insurance for this house boat than my roof 😵‍💫

Throw the whole roof out, make me a bat proof roof!

12 years strong here. I was spending too much time on Reddit 13 years ago so I made an account lol. I do this like it’s my job because I do this at my job.

It looks metal, and as someone who has half of their roof metal(don’t ask me as the previous owner) it kicks ass. Sounds amazing during rain and lasts forever.

Doesn’t that turn it into an oven in the summer though? Or does it have insulation underneath?

O
Ok-Bite-819 • 43 points
I suspect the reason its floats is because the whole roof interior was sprayed with expending foam. It would also explain how it stays together and is not falling appart

Throw some solar panels to insulate on top. Less direct exposure to heat with the added benefit of generating electricity.

crawl space and insulation in the ceiling! located in a desert area that hits 100+°F for days on end in the summers (and we only have a couple of window units), plus it hasn’t ever needed replacement sheets or any repairs in the 25 years it’s existed!

I had a metal roof put on my house this year and live in a hot climate. They kept my shingles roof, added 2×4 runners, and put the metal roof on over that. Not only do I not hear the rain but the drop in my power bill from the ac running less is notable. I am guessing having that pocket of air between the 2 roofs acts like a Yeti cooler. I love my metal roof

It’s not different than an asphalt roof in that respect.

When it gets too hot, you just put it in the ocean.

Is that a houseboat?

F
FOSSChemEPirate88 • 73 points
Considering all the houses that are underwater right now, yes, yes it is.

Sub-primemarines

D

I think it’s one of those new housesubmarines

B
Baschoen23 • 14 points
Precisely. The old New York class is being phased out and the more recent North Carolina class housesubmarines are being implemented in task forces this year, specifically the Outer Banks variant.

It’s a regular house, with a sunken living room and an island in the kitchen.
