Gift bag for a three-year-old

**Title:** Gift Bag for 3 Yr Old

**What Happened:**
Last Saturday, I attended my niece’s third birthday party, sheepishly clutching a vibrant, sparkly gift bag. It was overflowing with Thomas the Tank Engine paraphernalia, a packet of glitter pens (bad idea), and a small stuffed dinosaur that squeaked melodiously. I was convinced I’d nailed the art of toddler gift-giving. As Elena unwrapped the items one by one, I noticed her parents’ eyes widening with each squeak and shimmer.

**Why It’s Funny:**
Turns out, Elena had developed an inexplicable aversion to Thomas the Tank Engine after a particularly unsettling episode where he crashed into the station master’s house. My carefully curated gift bag was received with a torrent of tears as the squeaky dinosaur seemed to add insult to injury, screeching at her in something like toddler Morse code for “abandon hope.” By the end of the party, the sparkly gift bag was repurposed to store Elena’s crayons, the glitter pens were confiscated by a wary dad, and the dinosaur found a new home in their dog’s bed.

To clarify, she definitely didnt realize what it says. This would mortify her if she knew 🤣. She’s the best

Gotta save it for when your kid is older and can read (And when they’re old enough to understand it’s not a word to say in public, lol). It’s gonna be a hilarious memory.

My 3.5 year old 100% could read this 😂

It’s actually kind of accidentally perfect for a 3 year old because they can’t read and parents have a laugh

Your 3 yo is happy to get a gift!🎁 3 yo s can’t read yet…the phrase is for you… subtle meaning: nanny wants a raise…😊

Sounds like the nanny and 3yo have about the same grasp on english.

As a red/green colorblind person, this confused the f outta me 😆 🤣. I had to have my wife tell me what it said.

I wonder how many Xmas bags you haven’t been able to read in your life and didn’t even know.

Is she from a country that LOVES the sound.of English and has a loose relationship with what it means?

If that kid could read they’d be very upset

That’s one way to teach reading comprehension early. Bold choice for a preschool crowd. At least the kid can’t read it yet, the parents definitely can.

I love when people who have English as a second language do things like this 😂 I have a coworker this would 100% happen to.

This is inappropriate. I love being downvoted for this. This my issue with this generation, there’s no clear boundaries between adults and children.

What? Did you read the part where she said the person who purchased the bag didn’t know what it says?

I

In what culture is it acceptable to call anyone or a child a “Bitch”

P
PM_ME_PRETTY_PIGEONS • 11 points
The nanny doesn’t speak English. She did not realize the bag said bitch when she bought it for the child. OP said the nanny would be mortified if she knew what the bag said.

Any culture that doesn’t have a strong understanding of the English language and doesn’t know what bitch means.

What exactly are you trying to show with this?

B

And if she speaks Bulgarian (or any number of languages in that post) then the word she knows as bitch doesn’t look anything like the word on the bag.

What do you think?
