[OC] It’s all in your mind.

Last week, I decided to take up meditation to relieve some stress. I sat cross-legged on my living room floor, closed my eyes, and attempted to clear my mind. But instead of moments of blissful silence, my brain decided it was the perfect time to hold a full-blown debate about whether pineapple belongs on pizza. My thoughts escalated quickly—one minute I was contemplating Zen, and the next I was arguing with imaginary friends named Marco and Pepperoni about the finer points of topping selection.
Picture me, the serene meditator, only to be interrupted by my brain playing out a dramatic culinary courtroom scene. There I was, stifling giggles while lost in a mental wrestling match—think “Judge Judy” meets “Chopped.” My cat, oblivious to my inner chaos, strolled by like a furry judge, clearly unimpressed with my lack of focus. In that moment, it dawned on me: achieving peace is tough when your mind represents an entire pizzeria on the brink of insanity!

Flashback to a neurologist dropping panel four as a voice message on my work phone number. I took the rest of the day off.

I too had a brain tumour… Well, still do, or at least a little bit of one. They’ve said it will grow again over time, just very slowly, they hope. The guy who told me nearly broke down in tears – I was all “okay, but what happens next?” – only way of getting through it. I was watching a surgery program today about a guy with a brain tumour and it hit home way more now it’s all behind me by a few years. Suspect I’ve not dealt with it all…

That’s literally what our primary care physician said when he refused to allow brain scans for my sister as a kid despite my RN mom reading off the classic symptoms my sister was having… later on a second physician *did* sign off on the scans and it turns out it *was* a brain tumor; the delay almost killed her. Gotta love medical misogyny!

Reminds me of that one guy from some TV show that goes “he LOOKS dead”. Like the guy isn’t dead, but he looks dead cause the doctor is very literal.

Back in the day I went to my family doctor after having some tests done. I told him that he should have received them by now. He left the room and came back and said “They’re full of it”. My heart sank, until he clarified the testing place was full of it, for saying the results were ready.

To all of the people saying not funny, humor is subjective. This reads like a 2012 YouTube video like ASDF.

Not funny. My mother died of a brain tumour. 6 weeks between diagnosis and death.
