My husband looking at a peacock after I requested a nice photo with the bird.

**What Happened:** Last weekend, my husband and I decided to visit the local wildlife park, where I spotted a stunning peacock strutting its colorful feathers like it was auditioning for a runway show. Unable to resist, I begged my husband to take a photo with the majestic bird. What I didn’t expect was him to take it so seriously. Instead of smiling and posing next to me, he squared his shoulders, stared down the peacock, and muttered, “I am not afraid of you.” The peacock, totally unfazed, turned its back to him and flaunted its tail like it was saying, “Please, you’re not my type.”

**Why It’s Funny:** The sight of my husband attempting to out-stare a peacock turned into a mini comedy show. There he was, puffing out his chest like a cartoon character, while the bird casually strutted away, completely uninterested in my husband’s display of bravado. It was almost as if the peacock had a PhD in “How to Ignore Overzealous Humans.” I couldn’t stop laughing; it was like watching a superhero take on a villain who simply didn’t care enough to fight back.

Hatley Castle, just outside of Victoria, BC in Canada It was built as a private residence in the early 1900s and is now part of Royal Roads University. Interestingly, the reason the castle was owned by the government and could be used as part of the university is because during WWII the government bought the castle to use as a backup palace for the British Royal Family in the case that the Germans invaded the UK and the royals needed to be evacuated

Peacocks can be very dangerous. They have claws on the back of their legs that can slice you open in a heartbeat.

Do the chickens have large talons?

L

Peahens? I don’t think so but I’m not as sure. I know from experience they’re a lot tamer and not as aggressive. Some of the males are SUPER aggressive and nasty. And they know how to use that talon to kill.

The farm we used to board our horses at had a peacock for some unknown reason. I saw it kill a dog with it’s spurs. And it was a medium sized dog. 40-50 pounds or so. They are NOT to be trifled with.

He’s not wrong. I don’t know what’s in the water at Hatley, but the peacocks up there are so much meaner than the beacon hill ones.

Thought it was a dog that had a mega roll in freshly cut grass. Then thought it was that, but AI.
