this rhino lacks appreciation for its freedom
in WTF
This rhino doesn’t seem to appreciate its newfound freedom.

E
Pro tip when releasing a rhino: drive away as soon as it steps off!
R
I would settle with having literally any type of plan for “what if it doesn’t just run away” because it’s a fucking rhino lol
A
“We’ll just keep the high ground where it can’t reach us and be fine”
T
I was thinking he was going to roll the whole shebang over.
I
I think it’s a Toyota
T
Or put something to eat right out of the gate before driving away. This way the rhino gets a good bye meal and the workers leave knowing at least the rhino had one last good meal from them.
D
I’m no expert but I think that would be extremely counterproductive to reintroducing animals to the wild. If they are to survive in the wild they need to be able to find their own food. Pretty sure that’s a huge part of their reintroduction is weening their dependence on easily available food sources.
S
The rhino would be plenty fast to flip that little truck over if thy had given it something to chase, those fuckers can sprint like 45kph
M
Rhino would be like : Jokes on you, that running like a bitch just turned me on.
U
Or release a honey badger at the same time… they will fight each other and you may escape, unless they ally, then you are in deep trouble
D
Thanks for the advice!
T
Like giving a junkie narcan
T
This video cuts short. There was another post recently that showed the damage. The front passenger side of that truck is gnarly.
J
I was wondering if it was undrivable and they had to abandon that truck then came back for it with a tow truck.
G
Found it! It’s a Hilux. I’m sure it could drive off just fine https://www.theindependentco.co.za/2025/09/22/breaking-news-rhino-rampage-white-rhino-attacks-bakkie-after-1000km-relocation-trip/
J
Awesome, thank you! That hole from the horn day-UM! I don’t even want to know what that could do to a humans torso. The rhino cut himself on the door metal though, hope it didn’t get infected…”I’M FREEEE!” only to die from sepsis a week later would suck.
C
“no animalz were harmed” …def some blood on that car
E
BREAKING NEWS! Come on now.
X
>the bakkie was left damaged beyond repair
G
It’s a Top Gear joke. They bashed, burned, drowned, and put it on a building they blew up and it still drove away on it’s own power https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnWKz7Cthkk https://youtu.be/xTPnIpjodA8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFnVZXQD5_k
K
the hilux is really one of the most durable trucks ever made.
A
I wonder what the insurance rate is for a rhino release truck
W
Driver’s side, it’s right hand drive in South Africa
S
They have terrible eye sight likely after being put back in an unfamiliar area it’s gonna be a bit more aggressive
H
Animorphs taught me that!
M
I love seeing Animorphs fans out in the wild. So many of us.
R
i presume also a fan of goosebumps and are you afraid of the dark?
L
Every time I kill a fly a small part of my brain worries it’s one of the gang.
T
Rip, Jake
A
Uhhhhh what?
T
Animorphs, bro
A
Was that a spoiler I wish I didn’t see?
T
No, he doesn’t actually get killed as a fly. But he does get swatted and partially smooshed and the rest of them have to rescue his crippled fly body. Fortunately when they transform back, any damage their animal form sustained isn’t carried over so he was ultimately fine. It’s like the only animorphs plot line I remember lmao definitely left an impression.
A
The hilarious thing is I’m reading that book right now! The books hold up even as a 40-something-year-old 😄 And yeah, that fly scene was bad. Glad to hear that wasn’t a spoiler!
A
W
there are dozens of us. DOZENS!!!
C
Someone gets it.
H
Care to join me for a hot steaming bowl of maple and ginger oatmeal?
G
Everworld was my jam.
M
Don’t let them catch you

Rhinos enjoy ramming things as well. Or at least its default action is gonna be to ram something it finds threatening.
D
You got a horn like that, it’s a sin not to put it to good use.
S
I don’t think the car making loud sounds at the rhino would help the situation.
D
Never know till you try it.
H
That raw instinct is what makes rhinos both terrifying and magnificent. A living tank powered by pure survival.
T
One hypothesis about how they’re some of the few large mammals that were able to coexist with early humans instead of being hunted to extension is that, being from Africa, they evolved along side us. They became specifically quite suspicious of and aggressive to humans in particular. The other large mammals in the rest of the world mostly didn’t stand a chance as soon as early humans moved in; they didn’t have time to adapt like rhinos did before they were gone.
M
Iunno seemed pretty personal to me. Lol
T
I wonder… if we gene edited some rhino’s to have better eyesight, would they chill out?
