They say accident victims in china are extra sue happy, even going after people who provided aid. There are also people who’ll try to fake accidents for this same reason. So it’s been sort of culturally ingrained that you don’t help people unless it’s a disaster level event.

The comically badly acted dashcam videos usually are, but that’s because it’s a massive country and you don’t want to get on the road in China without a dashcam. The US equivalent is the “Swoop and Squat” where someone cuts you off and slams on their brakes so you rear end them.

Oh, as if you’d be there around helping everyone around you in a panic situation when you also have to be concerned about yourself, you never know if a thing like this will go even further, maybe the person is armed and wants to do even more damage.

There’s no way in hell after a car rams into your building that you’d stick around, what sort of larping is this. Of course from the safety of reddit and hindsight we can see this was a mistake and an accident, but you have no idea what would be happening in the moment, _especially_ if everyone else is panicing and running away. 0%

This is exactly the issue. It’s really fucking easy to say this behind the keyboard and when you are not one of the people who were just almost rammed with a car. Trying to see if you can help people after the situation is over is another matter entirely, but during a situation it’s not only human nature, but also sensible to get to safety first.

Came across this vid on a World News Telegram channel. Happened in Hunan,China (Jan 2026) Three people suffered minor injuries not sure if they went to the hospital. Info is still pretty vague.

They all act like GTA NPCs. That’s more WTF than the driver. Even the uniformed woman who was sitting with the pinky, ran away after pinky was hit.

That’s what I don’t understand about how this happens in so many videos. When do you slam on the breaks so hard the result is this? Especially coming from a direction that is most likely parking and not a road. Do people not tap and ease onto breaks? I’ve had “oops wrong pedal” moments that last half a second before taking my foot off and stepping on break. Nowhere near fast enough to drive through a shop like this.

There’s loads of stories of people saying their car just wouldn’t stop accelerating and pressing the brake did nothing, when in reality they were pressing the accelerator the whole time. They think the car is malfunctioning. If you think you’re already pressing the brake then you wouldn’t ever think to switch pedals. In other words, they’re morons.

in people with dementia the truly believe they are pressing the brakes, so they end flooring the gas and not understanding why they arent stopping.

Lots of times after they realize they plowed into something, they then throw it in reverse and floor it again and end up hitting whatever’s behind them. I was waiting for that to happen here.

Don’t need dementia, a 30-something dude in a Tesla on golf cart mode panicked and totaled my car in a parking lot because he hit me and then floored it.
