It was a sunny Saturday morning when my wife had the brilliant idea to take our cat, Mr. Whiskers, for a joyride. She carefully placed him in her lap and started the car, blissfully unaware that feline passengers have a notoriously high bar for comfort. As soon as she made a left turn that was just a tad too sharp, Mr. Whiskers, with his wide green eyes, shot her a look that could only be interpreted as “What do you think this is, a rollercoaster?” He then proceeded to “critique” her driving by firmly planting his paws on the dashboard, knocking her sun visor down, and meowing disapprovingly at every pothole.
The absurdity of a cat critiquing human driving skills was too much for me to handle. I could just imagine Mr. Whiskers shaking his head in disappointment at her lack of maneuvers, pawing the window as if he were signaling for her to pull over and let him take the wheel. By the end of the ride, he had not only claimed the front seat but also left a cozy fur reminder of his driving co-pilot days—just in case she needed a refresher on who really runs the show around here.

My wife chose to take the cat for a drive, and the cat had some comments about her driving.

P
How is your wife both an eighth grader and a 58 year old church organist, at the same damn time?

B
I don’t know why but i feel like that cat is traumatized that they are riding a car while ur wife is taking a selfie, he probably scared of crashing
T
> he probably scared of crashing That’s a calico. He’s a she.
R
While very rare there are boy calico cats.
G
Usually have Klinefelter’s Syndrome. Meaning they are XXY chromosome-wise. Humans can also have Klinefelter’s, along with horses, mice, dogs, etc. In humans in can present with gynecomastia, smaller testes, tall stature with long legs, and reduced body hair. Because the genes for Calico are coded on XX pair, Klinefelter males can also be calico/tortoiseshell as they are XXY.

It’s the hair, but I think it fits her well
T
Looks good on Ralphie Wiggum, too
N
It looks fantastic. Taylor Swift has bangs. So does Anne Hathaway, Sabrina Carpenter and Margot Robbie.
T
Who else has bangs?
N
Your mom
T
Correct! Who else?
P
The cat knows it’s 9 lives are at risk in one go

Moisturizer is important. Remember to take care of your skin.
J
It’s the style
P
I ran to the comments for this.
E
It’s the yee yee ass haircut.
J
“WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE”
E
Having an uncontained animal in the drivers cabin, that may occur sooner than anticipated
C
At least she’s not wearing a seatbelt, so the airbag won’t deploy and shotgun the kitten into her skull.
M
i know you’re making a joke, but air bags are tied to weight sensors in the the seats, not if the buckled is fastened.
V
Once went for a drive long ago, GF had our kitty on her lap. It got free and immediately scampered under the brake pedal and stayed there for a short while. I went easy on the gas, and she eventually coaxed it away.
E
>immediately scampered under the brake pedal Worst case scenario in an emergency break. Kill your kitten or crash
R
“WATCH THE BLOODY ROAD HUMAN, NOT THE PHONE”
Q
Claws don’t appear to be out though. My cat would have put 10 puncture holes into my skin by that point.
E
Don’t drive with animals unsecured in your vehicle. Both for the same reason you should secure yourself when driving (wear your seatbelt kids) and because a cat is just the right size to get under your feet or the pedals. Also when in already stressful conditions a cat tends to prefer a small, dark, space to hide in like a cat carrier.
L
Yeah, you hit the brakes and now you got a 18lb unsecured fur missile with murder mits coming your way. Good advice
I
Or (especially with smaller cats or kittens) you have the choice between braking and thus smashing your cat or getting into a crash if it runs underneath the brake. And there enough stories about people who have had that happen. Might have worked out in the end for them, but why even risk it. There are acceptable risks and then there are ones like this one that would just traumatise everyone involved.
M
Or worse, you get into an accident and your airbags deploy, and the cat turns into a violent, dead projectile. Definitely keep your pets in their carriers when driving.
P
If your cat is 18lbs then it’s either a Maine Coon or overweight.
R
Could also be a fairly small bobcat but that would be even more reason to not just let it roam your car.
C
It’s actually illegal in the UK to drive with a pet that is not suitably restrained.
W
My dog is more reserved than restrained, does that count?
B
Very British
V
I say.

My brother was moving between states. He had the 22′ truck with all their stuff and a dog. His wife had the kids (6 and 1) and the cat. The cat was crying and the wife told the 6 year old to let it out. It immediately went under the gas and brake and she panicked. There was an overpass and she wasn’t paying attention and went up the embankment and flipped the brand new car onto the roof. Moments later my brother comes up on a wreck and notices it is his family. He was able to pull over, grab the cat, toss it back into the carrier before it could run out on I5 and then get his family to safety. Epilogue to the story: The car was totaled. It was a brand new Saturn SC2 with under 500 miles. Turns out his wife hadn’t paid the insurance in months while he was deployed so it was cancelled. The dealership wanted them to keep making payments on the car. He lucked out though. The dealership was required to insure the car when it left the lot in the case his insurance failed to cover it. It was within the 7 or 10 grace period when the accident happened so he was able to walk away without paying anything.
G
Holy shit, his whole family walked away from that. I’m so glad to hear.
N
Between the accident and the insurance, that is one lucky family! I need some of that.
