Consensus view

**What Happened:** Last Friday, my friends and I decided to have a casual game night, but we quickly realized we couldn’t agree on which game to play. Someone suggested Monopoly, but then there was a heated debate about its ability to ruin friendships. Another friend insisted on Clue, which somehow led to a discussion on who’d make the best detective—spoiler alert, it wasn’t me. Finally, to settle the argument, we resorted to a very official betting system involving a largely undercooked pizza, a spinning bottle, and a rousing game of rock-paper-scissors.

**Why It’s Funny:** Just when we thought we reached a democratic conclusion, the pizza ended up being the ultimate tiebreaker, as we discovered that the only two pizza toppings left were anchovies and pineapple—both of which no one wanted. Suddenly, our united opinion turned into a hilarious standoff where we all passionately agreed that maybe, just maybe, ordering takeout was the best game of all!

“I’m not crazy about reality, but it’s still the only place to get a decent meal.” – Groucho Marx

Reality only sucks for those who *DON’T* read, watch, or play.

Had no idea that’s a Groucho Marx quote I just heard Halliday say that in Ready Player One

Yeah, that movie is full of reference. Still learn a new one whenever I rewatch it

But reality is the thing that contains all these things and is what they are usually inspired by… so yeah, seems pretty great to me, thank you reality, for always keeping it real!

I think the implication is that these people are only doing things to pass the time. Like I hate being alive but I’m not ready to kill myself yet so I just watch YouTube all day. I don’t enjoy it… but I have to do SOMETHING.

People often describe games, books, shows, and stuff as an escape. Even though that’s true, I’ve never loved how that’s framed as being their primary purpose. I’d still want to engage with creativity and imagination even if life was always wonderful and stress-free.

Fiction has no consequences, so we get to live vicariously with no repercussions. That’s appealing.

I mean, it isn’t all bad. Reality is where my friends are!

Bro, if I had a nickel for each time our mom would tell us we’d get “square eyes” from playing games all day and kick us outside, only to go into her office and watch British murder mystery TV shows on the computer, I’d have maybe $30, which is kinda significant.

Watching a nature documentary is not the same as being in nature though – images replace the real

Some of us do all three, but do still leave the house and experience the world…

Reality rules! You can read, watch, and play. Reading about someone doing it, watching someone doing it, or playing someone doing it is much less fun.

Books, games, and shows are part of reality.

Took me until the last panel to realize that it wasnt botched english but a simple “some of us do x”. I read it as a recipe at first.

I don’t, reality is nice, sometimes difficult, buy the happy moments far outweigh the bad moments. I was playing mario kart with my brother and we were having fun.
