Seems like from a different world.

Seems like it comes from a different realm.

It’s a blanket octopus awesomeness!
V
You know your sea creatures well…I had to look it up… [https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/blogs/creatura-with-bec-crew/2019/07/the-blanket-octopus-looks-like-a-rainbow-ghost-alien/](https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/blogs/creatura-with-bec-crew/2019/07/the-blanket-octopus-looks-like-a-rainbow-ghost-alien/)

> In fact, when a male finally finds a female in the open ocean, he will fill one of his tentacles up with sperm like a sock, tear it off, present it to her, and then float away to die. Alrighty then.
S
he’s just like me fr
S
I suppose at the end of the day, we’re not so different after all. Godspeed little octopus bro. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
A
“Go fuck yourself”, he says to the female while shaking the dismembered tentacle at her.
L
Tensticals
M
Master has given Dobby… pregnancy?!
S
Just gives away his cum sock and then dies. The hero we all strive to be
C
Brings a whole new meaning to saying “I’d give my left nut”.
–
Also, the male is the size of a walnut and the female is like 3 meters. It is the largest difference in scale for partners known. (250% iirc).
B
‘so he basically just finds a thot and says, “i dont have time for this. *here*”‘
H
“Here, take my cum-sock. Byeee”
P
We really do it like they do on discovery channel
S
>Alrighty then *Keep your secretions*
J
Been there, done that.
F
Okay but when I try to give a woman my cum sock she just calls the cops on me
M
No “performance anxiety” 🤔 smart lol
P
I mean, that sounds like a good deal many marriages on land too…..
L
lmaooooo
G
A line from that article is “imagine a female the size of a person and a male the size of a walnut” and I immediately thought that there was a pornhub category that is based around just that scenario…..
B
Or a scene from The Boys
B
The circles in this Venn diagram are not wholly separate.
B
More purple than red or blue.

S
From that article “he will fill one of his tentacles up with sperm like a sock, tear it off, present it to her, and then float away to die.” I feel like the author is using socks wrong.
H
She probably has a younger brother.
I
A SUCCULENT CHINESE MEAL?
H
Get your hand off my octopus!
S
#THIS IS MARINE BIOLOGY MANIFEST
R
**GET YOUR HAND OFF MY SEA CUCUMBER!**
R
Ah yes, I see you know your ichthyology well
C
🐙💬 – “Are you waiting to receive my limp TENTACLE….??”
N
This is the bloke who got me on the octopus people.
S
Everything is a succulent Chinese meal.

i went to the aquarium with my chinese girlfriend and she spent the entire time pointing at animals saying “i’ve eaten that”
U
Thanks 🙏 Nature is probably one of my best topics.
S
I’m history. Lets find someone for sports and and someone for pop culture and we can rule the game! I did not know about this octopus, which is one of my favourite animals. Thx for sharing.
U
Hurray!
H
Yeah bro, never seen them too and looked them up. A female lives about 2-3yrs and the males lives about 2yrs. Almost like giant squids that rises to sea level…also any other from the deep and they rises up to die or something that’s distressing them. Like the oarfish. Beautiful creatures though.
B
Thanks! I would love to have a drunken superstitious sailor look at it, then have him describe it back at the tavern, then have a secluded cleric with no biology background try to make sense of the recount in an article, then have another one with no particularly good drawing skills, but an efficient and quirky style illustrating it, just like in the good old times. It would be precious.
S
That’s how sea monster legends came about 🙂
H
No shit.
M
You could try it with an LLM
B
Yeah, I tried before just to test the thing, I also frequently try to replicate that style myself, but both are just corrupted imitations. It took those steps on the list, plus an imagination fueled by candle light, old wives tales and sacramental wine, to achieve an authentic illuminated manuscript whacky beast. That kind of ingenuity is very rare these days.
D
Not to be confused with the DUVET OCTOPUS.
O
Your comment is very comforting
U
Yeah you tend to only find them in colder climates /s
A
Nice! I was thinking a squid or something was eating an oar fish. Time to learn about blanket octopi.
