Gotta keep your eye on the road when driving on the highway in Vietnam. People stop and rest under bridges, sell food on the shoulder of the road, buffalo’s crossing to eat something in the median strip, someone using a bicycle on the shoulder, etc. So occasionally you’ll encounter someone running over to the other side to get something. While it’s bad behavior, this video is completely unsurprising to me now.

I knew it was Texas the second the video started, there’s always crazy stuff happening on those highways.

Shit, that’s San Antonio near downtown. People getting hit crossing the highway happens like every two days there… People just don’t want to walk down to the overpasses.

Tbf a lot of Texas pedestrian crossings are really far apart. I wouldn’t risk it but but I get the motivation.

You can even see an overpass there… it is like 50-100 meters to it. Tops.

The fact Texas is overwhelmingly car-centric and plans all their roads around that probably has a lot to do with his too.

I mean there’s a bridge right there in view, there’s just lots of crazy people. They installed pedestrian barriers on the middle barrier on I35 in Austin because people crossing it at night kept getting hit.

Having to walk 500m just to cross the road is the real crazy. They don’t need barriers, they need better crossings. But that would help people and helping others is woke.

I mean it’s an interstate highway rather than a road so not exactly meant to be pedestrian friendly. 35 has plenty of good crossings near downtown.

Despite what most americans seem to believe, walking 500m won’t kill you.
