A game based on a Chef Boyardee ravioli advertisement 🤣

**What Happened:** Last Saturday, I decided to host a game night with friends, inspired by the iconic Chef Boyardee ravioli commercial I grew up watching. We each had to create a dish using canned ravioli, and the twist was to act out a scene worthy of the TV spot while cooking. As my friends scrambled to whip up their “gourmet” creations, one guy accidentally dumped a can of ravioli on his head instead of in the pot.

**Why It’s Funny:** Watching him stand there, covered in tomato sauce and pasta, trying to maintain his dignity was the highlight of the night. He looked like a walking Italian dinner disaster, and while we were supposed to be taking this seriously, we all ended up in stitches. Who knew a little canned pasta could turn into the biggest slapstick comedy of the year? Next time, we might just save the ravioli for dinner!

So this is just an ad?

Yeah. Indie devs post these all the time. They are apparently allowed as long as it’s less than 10% of their post volume to the site. Which doesn’t seem to be followed here? I’m not super sure how they monitor that. But most of their posts on the site are this ad.

I love the way the platforming is just part of world design. In particular, if anyone remembers the toy story game for the N64 where you played as buzz light-year and jumped around houses and backyards and stuff, the way this turns normal environments into gameplay spaces really reminds me of that.

Yesss, that is our goal. Lots of platforming games today just have random stuff going up, we are trying to keep our level design a bit more realistic. Its not 100% realistic but it makes more sense i guess 🤣

I was looking for any comments that mentioned this. I got the same exact reminder.

If you want to read a narrative history of “Can o’ Beans”, might I suggest “Skinny Legs and All” by Tom Robbins. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_Legs_and_All_(novel)

It’s pretty shitty. I used to eat it for lunch as a kid. I love the idea of this game, though. I remember the commercial it’s based on.
