Last week, my dog, Rufus, decided he could be a cat. He climbed onto the kitchen counter, knocked over the coffee pot, and then proceeded to sit in the empty pot as if it was his new throne. Meanwhile, our cat, Whiskers, watched from the floor, completely baffled by this betrayal of species. The scene was set like a bizarre play, with Rufus sitting proudly on his makeshift cat castle while Whiskers plotted how to reclaim his territory without launching any furballs.
It’s one thing for a dog to act like a cat; it’s another when they start pulling off more grace than a feline with a delusional sense of purpose. I couldn’t help but laugh as Rufus looked genuinely pleased with himself, like he’d just won Best in Show for canines and felines everywhere. As Whiskers flicked his tail in disapproval, I realized we really should have considered a family therapy session for mixed-up species identities!

My name’s Zach and I drew the thing. I draw more things here on a website: [Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal – Grow](https://smbc-comics.com/) PS: I have a kids’ book out because it’s a middle-aged cartoonist right of passage: [Sawyer Lee and the Quest to Just Stay Home](https://us.macmillan.com/books/9780374393496/sawyerleeandthequesttojuststayhome/)

It’s bold to post your own comic to r/funny. But it IS very funny and I’ve enjoyed your comics for a while. The Most Dangerous Game is likely my favorite single comic publication of all time and it has lived rent free in my head since I first saw it nearly 15 years ago.
K
I have Bea Wolf. So far it’s cute.
B
Love your comics, probably as fundamental to my humor as Gary Larson. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been reading your puns and dick jokes for like, 15 years at least now lol
L
Woah. I haven’t thought about SMBC in like a decade…
M
ditto
S
This is, objectively, the funniest response possible.
I
Is there any context I’m missing?
A
It’s a pun
S
No there is not, it’s a simple pun.

Hey, I just wanted to say how much I loved *City on Mars*! It was 100% not what I expected, but 100% a fascinating look at all the stuff beyond the initial engineering issues. As a chemistry professor who loves hard sci-fi, I hadn’t even realized how most sci-fi and space colonization advocates hand-wave right past the social, legal, and diplomatic obstacles in our current international law system. Oh, and SMBC is easily on my Mt Rushmore of webcomics. Keep it up, Weinersmith!
M
Thanks! We were really shocked how well that book, since the pop sci market tends to reward lighter stuff. We’re hoping to do more stuff on other topics, but they take a long time to research!

Sunday Morning Breakfast Cereal, one of the best in the biz. Not missing the irony of your Patreon name attached to this particular strip.

I don’t get it
L
Grow some balls is being used as a euphemism for having courage and they are literally growing balls.
J
Fun-fact, this idiom is actually the opposite of an euphemism: a dysphemism. As well as a metonymy, you could argue.
S
Your mom’s a dysphemism.
S
where funny?
S
Worst cartoonist out there. I have yet to see an even slightly funny one.
