Complete Movie Theater

**What Happened:** Last Sunday, I decided to host a movie marathon in my living room. I invited a few friends, complete with snacks and the belief that we were in for the ultimate cinematic experience. As we settled in, I realized that there was a small problem: my dog, Rex, had discovered the power of the remote control. Every time a scene got exciting, Rex would jump up, accidentally hit a button, and pause the movie. After a few rounds of this, we were stuck on a dramatic moment where the hero was about to jump off a cliff—except we were stuck in a never-ending freeze-frame of his face mid-scream.

**Why It’s Funny:** The best part was Rex’s bewilderment as everyone yelled “unpause!” like it was some sort of group chant. He stared at us like we were the mad ones, clearly wondering why we weren’t interested in his new Netflix special titled “Rex Takes Control.” By the end of the night, we had watched the same two minutes of a movie for an hour, while Rex lounged on the couch as if he’d accomplished his ultimate goal of turning movie night into “Total Rex Cinema.” But hey, at least we got to spend a whole night laughing at Rex’s starring role in our cinematic disaster!

Long and storied tradition in “being so mad they coughed up blood” in Chinese literature. It’s a pretty common literary trope there, so I guess it only makes sense that the same would carryover in the film as well. Except, only when they get shot.

The amazing Korean skin care routine makes you die slower when shot.

The only thing missing in the Korean one is flashbacks of when they initially got shot once they are most of the way down, then returning to present time with a super close up of their face as they reminisced over the flashback, and then returning to the wide shot with them inexplicably less far down than when the flashback begun, allowing the shot to drag out to like a minute.

And showing it from 4 angles, then freeze frame for end of episode, and doing something slightly different at the start of the next episode that makes everything less dramatic than it seemed in the cliffhanger.

Omg, there was multiple times when we watched My Demon, that we thought we’d already watched an episode because even 11 minutes in they were still recapping the previous cliffhanger, then they’d stare at each other and flashback events from 5 episodes earlier, and I swear they only had 2 songs for the whole series, so it always sounded like the intro or outro of an episode, but rarely like you were in the plot of the actual episode you are watching. But my wife was quick to point out it doesn’t matter because she could happily watch those 2 intensely stare at each other all day, no need for a plot.

Song Kang and Kim You-Jung had amazing chemistry it made up for all the drawn out scenes, so I agree with your wife! Such a great series too

3 episode of charging the Kamehameha, you know it’s going to be worth the 6 episodes of blasting to see that planet destroying damage get slapped out of the way over another 3 episodes.
