When my grandfather passed away, we began sorting through his things, hoping to find mementos or stories to cherish. One day, I stumbled upon a dusty old box in the attic that contained a bizarre collection of rubber ducks—each dressed in different superhero costumes. There was a duck in a cape, another sporting a mask, and even one styled like a pirate. He had clearly put a lot of thought into their looks, and it seemed like something he might’ve done for a laugh or a quirky art project.
At first, I was taken aback by the sheer randomness of it all. My grandfather, a no-nonsense former army sergeant, had a secret life as a duck enthusiast? But then I imagined him in his old age, hosting top-secret duck superhero meetings in the living room, and I couldn’t help but burst into laughter. It added a whole new layer to his personality—who knew he was the type to gather an army of quacking heroes? Now, every time I see a rubber duck, I can’t help but chuckle, picturing him in his crunchy old recliner, chuckling at his own inside joke.

Discovered this after his passing. It’s somewhat amusing now.

A
One last dad joke from the grave!
P
I hope I have the presence of mind to leave something like this for my kids before I’m gone.
D
Because you almost certainly won’t afterward.
P
But if I could, I would!
A
Lil gallows humor, if you will
K
That’s a perfect note to find
V
“We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl, year after year”
T
I liked that song way more when I was younger. Now it’s just soul crushingly relatable.
M
I feel this way about most of their songs
R
Most DSOTM and onward, probably. I don’t think many people are tearing up to The Gnome.
T
I’m 45 and “ Careful with that Axe, Eugene” still hits.
F
Agreed. I feel the same way about the entire Animals album.
C
“We’ll make the bugger’s eyes water”
M
Running over the same old ground
J
But what have you found?
H
The same old fears
J
Wish you were here 🤝
S
My Dad’s most favorite band in the world, he had seen them live a handful of times. He raised me on Pink Floyd, and this is the song that cuts me every time.
F
Nice one 👍
N
“You would really enjoy the hell outta this place”
B
Sure beats Hell Michigan
A
Which is thoroughly frozen over, right now, for sure.
C
Lol sure does
R
As I recall, you can purchase a 1″ square plot of land from that city as a gift, so you can give your friends hell.
E
Weed legal af tho. Smoke to forget
B
That’s a way to burn in hell
M
Sweet. Love his capital “D”, too.
T
I bet you love his D
T
Tough room
D
I sighed at the first one but this comment is gold.
E
LMFAO. Dad for the win. I’m glad we can all laugh about this. But with all my heart, I’m sorry he’s gone.
B
I remember a quiet, somber moment as my brothers and I waited for my dad’s body to be put into the oven for cremation. After a while I said, “Jesus, Dad would be pissed this is taking so long”. Cracked through the tension and got them to laugh Sometimes a little levity is just what we need
E
You’re absolutely right 🙂

I’ve actually been there twice. It’s named hell because of some black coral reef that’s all over the place. It’s a lil tourist attraction.
F
I’ve also been there and I sent a postcard like this to a ton of people! It’s a great visit.
K
Are the roads paved with good intentions?
I
I’ve also been there, twice! Tourist trap, but being from Michigan, currently frozen over, I appreciate it even more!
K
It’s such a silly little tourist trap, the owner of the shop wanders around in a little devil cape and horns.
T
I’ve been there too. They sell tons of postcards.
W
And they’ll stamp your passport for you!
T
Must have been a Pink Floyd fan?
F
Your dad has the same penmanship that I do and it’s kinda freaking me out
N
have you recently died?
S
It looks like MY dad’s and it’s weirding me out. Does he have a secret family? Or are you my dad??!
Y
It looks like my dad’s too!!!
M
Mine too! Do all dads have the same dad signature!?
Y
Maybe? My dad signs his emails, “L, D” these days, pretty cute.
D
….. Daddy?
M
Absolute S tier dad joke.
I
I have considered getting “Love, Dad” in his handwriting as a tattoo on my wrist. I have kept a card with his writing in the event I make the decision. He’s been gone 11 years.
