Last Saturday, I decided to be responsible and clean the house. I put up a sign on the living room door that said “Do Not Disturb,” hoping to keep my cat, Mr. Whiskers, from interrupting my nice cleaning spree. Instead of obeying, he took that as a personal challenge. The moment I started vacuuming, Mr. Whiskers sprang into action, leaping over the furniture like some sort of furry ninja, and repeatedly tried to sneak past the “Do Not Disturb” barrier to attack the vacuum cord.
Here I was, a grown adult, trying to assert my authority with a simple sign, while Mr. Whiskers was clearly deciding that rules were merely suggestions. Watching a cat attempt to defeat a vacuum like it was a dragon guarding gold was both ridiculous and hilarious. Who would’ve thought my biggest enemy this weekend would be a 10-pound fluff ball with absolutely no respect for boundaries—or my sanity?

My gray floofy soulmate kitty passed away recently quite unexpectedly. He would do this type of silly shit sometimes too. He loved playing fetch and opening/closing doors. He even learned how to pick my bedroom door lock. Such a handsome, smart, goofy, and pure rescue kitty. I miss him. 💙
