Great swing… or possibly the most extraordinary swing?

Great swing … or the ultimate swing?

I had to watch this like 20 times, and in slow motion to wrap my mind around what he did. Still not sure I comprehend

He basically just picks the club straight up and flips his hands to get setup in the top position. No real advantage, just an awkward movement because he’s skipping the backswing.

I think in practice this would be way worse every time. But in theory I could see how it could maybe give you extra distance if you had the perfect motion. You are getting a full 360 degree spin, you could get faster club head speed. I just think it’d be too hard to generate as much power or control with that movement.

But I don’t thing he’s using nearly as much of his body/hips to drive the club speed, wouldn’t that result in less distance?

Yeah at least half of the club’s rotation is pure wrist/forearm movement, which is weak AF, and the rest of the swing his hips come in way too late.

Also, half of the swing is working against gravity

I seriously doubt it. The transition from backswing to downswing is how you load the shaft.

M

I can assure you that’s not how I load my shaft.

go on….

I don’t know anything about golf form, but this looks like it would lead to a really nasty RSI condition in the wrists.

This seems to be a modification of the swing I saw popularized by Snappy Gilmore. He’s using his second hand likely to increase control. It’s a novelty because it seems extremely hard to control but it’s fun to watch.

I hope he’s going for long drive competition cause the other 99% of shots in golf are ruined for him. Dumb as all get out

I find it hilarious when someone playing one of the dumbest and goofiest games around gets mad at something dumb and goofy looking. “That’s just too much fun with your fun”.

I just see it as someone’s personal strategy/technique. If it works for him, great, who cares? Im sure many people he has golfed with have asked him and said “What the fuck is with your swing” For all we know he has some kind of condition or disability that makes it harder for him to swing “normally” Maybe he is like Happy Gilmore and driving 350+ yards with his weird technique lol

Not only does it look silly, its primarily the mechanics of his swing that are not going to translate well, which is another way of saying they won’t work. If he’s just out there playing for shits and giggles then by all means have fun. If he wants to take the game serious and get good at it he needs to start over properly

Unless you’re playing for cash and prizes you’re playing for shits and giggles regardless of how seriously you take it.

S

Actually you’re playing against the course, and yourself. It’s a challenging sport to those that take it serious

But Daly is good?

D

I thought he dislocated his shoulder or something

A
Aquarona • -36 points
He did. The dolts above made an oversimplification and didn’t even realize that was why his posture looks so bad initially.

K
Kewlhotrod • 3 points
Most certainly did not. Clearly seen when slowing down.

Also he’s sooooo close to the ball for a drive, look at his arms at the beginning, he’s losing on so much head speed because of that. Like, iirc you’re supposed to have your arms stretched out so that the same “arm speed” = higher head speed. You can also see him straighten up and even jump up a little when hitting the ball, that can’t be good form.

I think he’s just practicing for a golf themed horror movie. A24 is in talks already

B

Seems like it’d be really rough on your wrists

G

No. He’s double jointed and doing an Optimus Prime “wuhwuhwuhwuhwuh” transformation and fully whammy 360 spinning that club.

He started his swing from the ground. Now that’s coming full circle

What do you think?
