I cleaned out my closet and came to the conclusion that my husband was correct; I have an issue.

**Cleaned out my closet and realized my husband is right, I have a problem**
I finally bit the bullet and decided to clean out my closet, thinking it would be a quick Saturday project. But as I pulled out one pair of shoes after another, I realized I had enough footwear to start a small shoe store. There were heels I wore once for a wedding, boots from a time I was convinced I’d take up hiking, and flip-flops that had clearly survived a couple of rounds with the dog. By the time I reached the back, I stumbled upon a sweater that was so vintage, I expected it to sprout a tail like a woolly time machine.
I ultimately had to admit what my husband’s been teasing me about for years: I have a serious shopping addiction. It’s a miracle I’m still holding onto my sanity because as I stood amidst a mountain of clothes, I realized I could dress a whole neighborhood for a year, complete with trendy hats for every occasion! My husband then walked in with an incredulous look, holding up a sparkly sequined dress I forgot I owned. “This is why we can’t have nice things,” he said, and I couldn’t help but laugh—he was totally right!

I heard a woman say “I’m a New Yorker. I’ll wear black until something darker comes along. “

Does this mean that all the black cats get adopted at the shelter and the orange ones must be shipped to the suburbs to find homes with khaki slacks?

Look, we all have to use Laundromats because we don’t have room for washer/dryers. It’s much easier and cheaper to do everything together because it’s all black so we only buy clothes that are black and darker black, it’s very reasonable.

Like Lego Batman. Black, and sometimes very dark gray.

This image is a great demonstration of a common misconception: that all “black” clothes are equally black. Sometimes people seem to be wearing apparently black clothes, but if you look closely, they are really only very, very, very very dark blue. I thought my Uncle Tommy was wearing black socks but when I looked at them closely, they were actually just very, very, very, very, very, *very* dark blue. You have to order from speciality sites or catalogues that cater to demographics who want black clothes that are blacker than other black clothes, like goths or priests. Never buy black clothes in a normal shop; they shaft you every time.

If you think black is a hard color to color match, try white. There’s white, off white, cream, ivory.
