Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans portraying all televangelists at once.

One particularly chaotic Sunday morning, Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans teamed up for a television special where they impersonated every televangelist imaginable. Jim, with his elastic facial expressions, turned the volume up to eleven, passionately declaring, “Send in your money, and watch your dreams come TRUE!” while demonstrating a hilariously exaggerated healing technique that involved a dramatic flourish and a sprinkle of “holy water” from a squirt bottle. Damon, not to be outdone, jumped in with his own take, portraying the teary-eyed, guilt-tripping preacher who claimed that those who didn’t donate would be cursed with bad luck for eternity—complete with fake lightning effects and exaggerated gasps from the audience.
The absurdity of watching these two comedic legends mingle hyperbole and sincerity is what made it downright hilarious. Their antics transformed the usually serious tone of televangelism into an over-the-top comedy show. The visual of Jim convincing “sinners” to hand over their cash while attempting to levitate with the help of a bungee cord and Damon dramatically clutching his pearls at the thought of financial ruin had viewers rolling on the floor laughing. It was a masterclass in how the line between faith and folly gets blurred when you add a healthy dose of comedy!

This just confirms for me that Walton Goggins (and Danny McBride, too) is an In Living Color fan.

This isn’t parody. This is exactly how it’s done!

Right? He was parodying Jimmy Swaggart. He cried on tv confessing his sexual sins.

Anyone who watched Carrey on In Living Color knew he was something rare. Chappell was the same.
