oh I mean… I just don’t know what would I be winning from purposely being click baity? like… its a sub red… is not that im monetizing or making anything from it. just wanted to share what happened to my console (which did had ants both in the switch and the dock) but I only recorded a bit of it.

I expected an actual switch to be full of ants. That would be quite cool. But a dock is just a hollow piece of plastic so nothing special if it’s full of ants. It was a click bait-ish title for a Reddit post. That’s all I’m saying.

Electronics are rarely prone to heat damage especially from something as tame as the sun but the condensation from a freezer will absolutely cause damage if any of that moisture is still present on reboot

When you let the dock dry in the sun before you reconnect it to the grid there’s no problem. But then you could put it in the sun in the first place…

But then once it gets too hot from being out in the sun you’ll have to put it back in the freezer. Sorry OP, looks like those ants got you caught in a feedback loop. I’m afraid you’ll never be able to use that dock again.

Put the dock in a bag, put that bag inside another hag filled with hot water, then put that hot water bag in the freezer, then take the freezer and put it in the sun. Problem solved.

We’ve come full circle. Just seal the bag and leave it in the sun.

Seal in plastic and freezer. Leave in plastic to warm back up. If there’s no air in the bag there shouldn’t be any humidity to condense. In the sun the ants will just move out of the way. I’d probably try the sun before freezer.

Tame comparative to the average heat produced by electronics. Most electronics operate within temperatures exceeding 50C regularly and for extended periods. A little sun bath is definitely tame in comparison.

The issue is that the average temperature outside is often far cooler than the actual energy imparted by being in direct sunlight. Black plastic will absorb a large amount of thermal energy. Though unless you’re in Pakistan that temperature *will* probably be cooler than 50c, probably.
